Complex Theorem Progress
As some of you already know, I abandoned my personal website — OnlyJames — in order to pursue a clean slate. My new home will be Complex Theorem. As it stands, it is nothing more than a landing page. Behind the scenes, however, there is a different story.
Work on this project has been steady going for the past few months, and as most creatives will tell you, the hardest thing to do is to remain satisfied with your personal website. I am no exception. The good news, however, is that I am now at the point where it’s mostly about connecting all the pieces and making sure they work together: Python is the underlying language, Flask is the framework, MongoDB is the data store, and Redis is the caching layer.
Yet there are a few decisions that I have yet to finalize:
- Should this Tumblr account serve as my primary blog, whereas Complex Theorem would host my essays and other long-form content?
- Should I host my blog and long-form content on Complex Theorem together, thus negating the point of even having a Tumblr?
- Should I host the blog and long-form content on Complex Theorem but keep them separate, while giving users a choice in the matter?
Those are not easy questions to answer.
I intend on Complex Theorem being my home on the Web for years and years into the future, because switching between platforms and domains is truly a pain in the ass. But I don’t want to screw this up. Once I make a decision I’m sticking to it. I just have to… you know… make that decision already.
